ICONE LINDISSIMA FALOU TUDO
A great person.
Never admit to being a snitch😂in all honesty tho great speech
The main reason there is so much disaffection with the term "feminism" is that it has come to mean something different than mere equality for women. It has taken up the narrative that patriarchy has privileged men at women's expense for 10,000 years everywhere in the world. It has focused on male authority, without appreciating the responsibilities that have come with that role – the burden of being the ones to risk their lives for the providence and protection of vulnerable members of society. It ignores the sacrifices made to give us the technology we have today. Chimamanda understands her own experiences, but she misinterprets men's actions and misunderstands the nature of men's experiences in order to maintain this narrative of male privilege.
The women's movement was important in changing roles so that women could participate more fully in male political & economic life. Hardly anyone (men included) has an issue with that. Of course, this is a work in progress. There are still differences where men are given more respect for their authority and women garner more empathy and concern for their safety. The problem is that men have been depicted as the gender villains of history to such an extent that legitimate men's issues have been dismissed as the whining & complaining of a privilege class. This oppression narrative is unnecessary for gender equality.
Shalom. Who established the classical woman's gender role?
Secondly, what is the established gender role? Do you basis your foundational understanding on gender roles from the Bible's interpretation?
Why or Why not?
If anyone would answer I say to you: "Shalom"?
if third wave feminists thought more like this we would take them more seriously….
WCFS, Western Complaining Female Syndrome
Very sorted talk.. loved it
Women’s rights in some parts of Africa are a GENUINE problem that needs to be solved. However, American feminism is a goddamn joke.
now THIS is feminism
Wow! She is so funny and everything she is saying is so true. Love from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico 💙💙
I ADORE HER SO DAMN MUCH.
Wonderful❤♀️
There is no feminism in the woods
Feminism is probably necessary in Africa but not in the west
I dont get the women wrapper part🤔
Fantastic speaker, very intelligent and articulate. Completely sound – feminism makes complete sense. I always thought it was completely obvious that women should have equality – It's always shocked me how some people react to it.
I don’t tend to generalize, but a lot of the men are bringing in statistical evidence. Yes, it counts lawfully towards the equality of men and women which is a HUGE step in overall equality, but that doesn’t mean that women still aren’t discriminated against. Just because we are equal on paper, doesn’t mean we are treated equal in day to day life. And a lot of men won’t be able to understand where I am coming from because they simply have never lived in the shoes of a woman. There are still so many backwards and old-fashioned mindsets and social constructs that are pushed upon women (and men for that matter as well). I remember my grandfather telling me that I should have a family instead of following my dream of teaching English in foreign countries because I was a female. And that really hurt me. Anyways, the point is that this isn’t just a problem for women; it’s a problem for men as well. In order to truly be equal, we need to get rid of all of these useless stereotypes. Why do men have to feel pressured to be the breadwinner and why do women have to take care of the children?
8:25 onwards is very worth pondering
I guess I would rather just identify as "Equalist" honestly. Or just someone that is kind and decent to everyone.. I get tired of hearing "feminism this feminism that". Its almost as annoying and toxic a term these days as "Gamergate" became which I'm still confused about. Maybe I just hate politics.. But either way I'm a down to earth person that prefers to speak to and with others as simply people. I hope someone understands what I mean and where I'm coming from lol. People are so much more then the cliques and scenes they are in as well as gender. Just be real with people.
I expected that this comment section would soon turn into a battlefield, and was not disappointed.
My Goddess!
You delivered an apt and very inspiring talk!
wakanda forever
im ok with feminists
not when they yell because of orange poles…
13:00
I read this in my ela class. I like her thoughts process
Old but gold
Yeah, no thanks we don’t wanna be apart of your cancer
I miss when this kind of feminism was pretty much the norm (u_u)
A lot of comments say stuff like "all comments are horrible men complaining," but all I see is universal praise for the video. Stop rushing to create enemies, you're scaring off the new possible supporters of your cause. What good does the opinion of those that already agree with you? Celebrate those as enlightened as you, but above all welcome those who are not there yet. Remember most of us were once one of them.
This is not nowadays feminism. This is the "First Wave" feminism. The real ones. The ones that wanted just an opportunity. An equal one. Today, we have the cancerous "Third Wave"; The absolute hate on men, and pushing women to hate themselves.
This ain't the femenism we men are angry about!!
This is what feminism is about
I've 3 gfs living with me.
30,28 and 22 years old.
"It's a man's world but it's nothing without a woman" – James Brown
if a man slaps a woman can he not get charged with battery and assault or physical bodily harm etc in westernized countries? in Eastern or countries with more traditional backgrounds can a woman not be arrested for attempting to run from her husband or slap him? globally standards are skewered and messed up Feminism is based on equality
In the beginning of the speech she's always looking down to the paper, but she's not lacking words at all
great speech. they clearly need the word where she lives. the men there are behind the curve.
She should focus her activism on Africa and Middle east where women really suffer because of gender and leave the rest of the world in peace, no one care for the western feminism whose primary concerns are "inclusive language" and misandry.
i read the whole speech in class when i was supposed to read an essay i didnt write
Just loved it!! I learned a lot with that video!!
😍 inspiring
Le féminisme c'est du n'importe quoi………
WE should create our own word for that….
Love the TEDX
We should all support men's rights too.On average men are worse off than women.
This woman aspired me alot.
Am a girl and I don't hate men❌
I have been raised by a dad I loved ❤️
I have been a sister to a brother that I loved ❤️
And am hoping to marry a kind hearted person that I'll love❤️
I love men and respect them 💁🏽♀️
I do believe in equality.
And I believe that being equal doesn't mean by being harsh to the other gender.
I know that men have been pressuring women but that doesn't mean that when you seek for equality doesn't mean to understimate men.
I don't care about what men did in the past but am in the present and I've never met a guy who understimated me in my family nor in my school.
Please excuse my English if you didn't understand 🙃
I love her
shut up and go back to the kitchen
I wish feminism was like this.
And not getting triggered when someone disagrees with you
13:00
That's the most beautiful and powerful video I have ever seen!! I'm a Brazilian girl and I couldn't agree more with you. Completely perfect, we have to show our power to the world!
she's amazing
Need closed caption , or could it be recorded in English ?
Thank you!
Q: What do you call a letter from a feminist?
A: Hate male.
Q: How many feminists does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: None. They just hold it in the socket and expect the world to revolve around them.
Remeber when feminism wasn't a toxic cesspool and actually stood for equality rather than a list of hot topics of the current time. Lord forbid we start as a species treating people as individuals rather than stereotypes of presupposed expectations
I´m mexican girl and those things are the same in my country. We ned to change the perception of feminism !!!!
Feminism is CANCER!!!
respect whamen, never betray your manhood.
feminists are ruining the future
I learned so much because because of this talk! Thank you so much! ❤
this scenario is much like what happens here in Brazil, it took me time to realize things were not meant to be this way and support women fighting this
n0
I don't think that there are any healthy long term relationsships without the traditional gender roles
we need a new word for her definition of feminism!
feminism sounds like only women have problems but actually also men do!
0:41 Best Part
totally changed my views on feminism.
We should all be humanist. Feminists try to make it that women are the center of all good, and masculinity the center of all bad.
1st wave feminism was needed so was the 2nd but the 3rd I'd useless
OMG! I fuckin found the video that assembled feminism which is attacking men in 2018-2019
Wow, girls today are usually taught to be independent and that they don't need a male. I'm a boy and I was taught to always protect and do the right thing. The girls at my school are praised for not being a boy
Women are better taking care of the house and children. Men are better at supporting the family and protecting everybody they care about.
THIS is what feminism is meant to be.
0:41 ,malaka????? This is a very used word in greece.
Why she doest priest at the opressing men nation of the west?
If we were all feminists we would probably call every man sexist
15:31
💪🏼❤️
3rd wave feminism is a cancer in society!
AMAZING SPEECH
"The higher
you go, the fewer women there are"
– Wangari Maathai
Deep stuff!
You see this is a smart woman who doesn’t complain like them bitches at buzzfeed
More like a cult feminazis are cancer
Culture don’t make people; people make culture
I will practice this!
The day man will wake up and look back to history how much great things they have done without any leadership of the woman will be a really bad era for woman.things will come around again
i liked the video before even watching it because i trust Adichi
I recognize this brilliant womans voice from having been sampled by the brilliant Beyonce on one of her albums:) I'm impressed .
Feminism is not need in America and Europe where we already have equality. However, it is much needed in places like Africa, South America, the Middle East, etc, where women are actually oppressed.
Wtf is this. These comments are unbearable.I advice you not to look at the comments down below. These are just some pathetic and negative people, who just want to make your life feel as unworthy as it is for them.
feminism is not only include female problems. when we talk about feminism we should talk male problems too. we should think like we are human not woman or not man..
FLAWLESS VIDEO
❤✊🏾❤
This is a wonderful and persuasive speech but some of the situations mentioned in your speech are quite the opposite in my country because they give women more importance xd 🙂
i love this video and help me to open my eyes
Beyonce's Flawless brought me here and those lines hit me like bullet train straight into ma mind and soul gurll
Nope. That ideology is civilization ending. And I’m a woman.
There was a time I asked my husband to change the baby's diaper and I said thank you after, and my husband being a white, asked, why re u thanking me? Then I was like u changed the baby's diaper for me, and he was like, then am supposed to say thank you when u change her diapers too then… He didn't understand but as a Ghanaian, my mom said I was turning my boyfriend into a *boy boy*, which means a servant. But as time passed with my husband and his family , I learnt a lot, that women are not slaves in the family but partners, we are not born with a spoon in the hand to cook, or any other thing, we are equal, we can share duties. But I also understood and learnt in the Ghanaian culture why my mother said that, it's because, during their time, the man goes out to work and earn sth while the woman stays at home, doing the house chores, so it was shared that way at that time, but now, we all go out and work hard for a living to put food on th table, we don't lazy around at home so it's fair if we re not entitled to a specific thing required of us to do.
She made me cry and be proud at the same time. No matter where you live the situation is the same!
Is the kitchen on fire? No? Then get back in there and make me a sandwich
