Opportunities Barefoot Writer – Writing About GetPaidTo Hi there, I was wondering if you could offer any advice. I have now submitted two heavily researched health/medical articles for a popular body building women’s magazine, one article (two page spread 1000 words) was published last week, and the other (3-4 page spread 1500 words) is due for publication in the next month. How can propose to the editor, to transition me from doing this for free, to freelancing in a paid role? I have a medical degree and am writing about medical/health related content. I would love to continue writing for the magazine, but equally, I would like to get paid for the many many hours of research, though synthesis and data collection I put into these articles. Any advice is kindly appreciated.
Press Center Amy says August 24, 2010 at 7:20 PM 20. AppStorm I’m 23, and I graduated with an English degree last year. I am confident in my writing ability; I only need to learn how to write for the online market. Is it really that simple? Just write and submit to these sites? Or are there other things to learn, like the proper citation format for sources and links in your article, how to write a query letter, maintaining/knowing your rights….I noticed that most authors/bloggers have a personalized “signature” or banner at the bottom of their article, along with their email and picture. Are these provided from the site, or are they made and coded by the authors? I understand making a blog is crucial to creating an online presence, but I’m wary of spending too much of my time writing for free. I’m not looking to make a living at the moment; I just need a second income. I’m in Canada, if location makes any difference. I look forward to hearing from you.
